Some members treated Elder Hanni and Elder Benson (Kevin's companion that he had for only 2 weeks before he went home) to a trip to Hopewell Rocks. They have the largest tides in the world with a change of 40 feet. They are standing on what is the ocean floor at high tide.

Elder Hanni was able to go back to Kentville for the baptism of a woman that he taught for 6 months before he got transferred. He got permission to go back because he was asked to speak at the baptism.

Mother's Day Phone Call

We had a nice phone call with Elder Hanni on Mother's Day. We couldn't all get together, but we were all able to talk to him. Grandpa and Grandma Hanni and Brenda and Perry were here for a few minutes of the call. The Williams talked to him a little later from Washington. Kaylee had left him a message earlier when they were trying to call him (his companion was talking to his family at the time). Brian and Carrie talked to him a little after that. He sounded great. We tried not to make him too trunky, although his time is getting short.

Elder Bloxham, new companion

Elder Hanni got his wallet stolen last week, so now he has no debit card, no drivers license, no temple recommend, no cash. Dad is working on helping him get things taken care of.

Elder Hanni is in a new area now. He is in Riverview New Brunswick. His new companion is Elder Brett Bloxham from Rigby, Idaho. He now gets to travel to Prince Edward Island as part of his responsibilities. His new address is posted, and he is hoping to get a lot of mail.

It is transfer time again. Elder Hanni is sad to be leaving Kentville, but excited for the new challenges and experiences he will have in Riverview, New Brunswick. As soon as we get an updated address we will add it. He is still Zone Leader over some of the same missionaries which made him happy. His new companion will be Elder Brett Bloxham from Rigby, Idaho.

We were going to be teaching all day and visiting our coolest people, but then it started snowing and ruined everything. Our car got stuck 3 times. Sorry, it's been a long time since I updated this. Does anyone even read this? If you do, comment.

Kevin is doing great.
We have had to ask him a few questions about when we pick him and his plans after his mission for school reasons. It kind of freaked him out because time is going so fast.

An investigator is getting married in the Kentville chapel at the end of February so she can then be baptized. Kevin was asked to be a member of the wedding party. Not sure if that is appropriate for a missionary. He told them they needed to check with the Bishop.

He continues to have great missionary experiences. One of these days he may actually get to perform a baptism. He has been instrumetal in several, but gets transferred before they occur. He is ok with that because the most important thing is that they get baptized, not who does it. He considers himself a "finder".

My new comp Elder Christensen is sweet. He’s my best friend. I love the guy.

This area is amazing. It isn’t real big, a bit smaller than Yarmouth, but it is so great. There is a WARD here of 120 people! I flipped out on Sunday! There were so many people! I love it. There are sisters serving here too. They are fun. One of them is from Australia and I like her accent. It makes me laugh.

I love serving here in Kentville. I am so happy here. Things with Elder Christensen are great...

The members here are amazing. They are so excited about missionary work. There are about 10 recent converts. The members take good care of us. We have had a dinner appointment every night, a few lunch appointments, and even a couple breakfast appointments. They love us and we love them.

I haven't updated this in a long time. Sorry about that. Here is a big update.

Kevin is doing great! He is really enjoying his mission.

His current companion is Elder Freeborn. (Picture on the above. He isn't really in a wheel chair. He is just in it for a reason I don't know.)

He thought he was going to have a baptism, but the lady had to go on a search and rescue mission for 10 days and they haven't been able to find her again.

Ok, Kevin said that he can't email us picture from the area he is in because it takes too much time. So, I will be posting a few of the paragraphs he writes in his emails.
This is what he wrote in this week's email:

Oh great news! So I got a letter from Elder Miner (my Yarmouth companion) He forwarded a bunch of letters to me and he wrote me a letter too! He told me that Dean (remember him? He was a sweet, elect guy we were teaching) got baptized on May 8th! Just over a week after I left. I was sooo excited! Thats not even all of it! On May 10th he was in The Halifax temple doing baptisms for the dead! So Cool! He has been out teaching with the missionaries too! Oh, man! My soul is filled with joy for him! He was so prepared. He will be a great strength to the Yarmouth branch. Woo Hoo!
I was also informed that there was a baptism in Woodstock, New Brunswick (part of my old area). Woo Hoo!
So, Elder de Jong got transferred to Grand falls, NL. He will be serving with Elder Andersen ( my past comp ). It will be really good for E. de Jong. E. Andersen is a stud of a missionary. He'll lay the smack down better than I could. Ha ha ha.
My new companion here in Bay Roberts is Elder Freeborn. He's from Texas. He is a small guy. much smaller than me. He kind of reminds me of Brian Stauffer, just mini-sized. i'm real excited to serve with him. We're going to go baptize some people.

New Companion

This is Kevin's new companion Elder Andersen. He has been out about a year and is from Centerville, Utah. Since Elder Andersen is new to the area of Hulton, Kevin is pretty much the one running everything. He said " It was totally daunting at first and I prayed a ton. It was more like a desperate plea for help! As I did so, I have felt the Lord lifting, inspiring, and empowering me. Who the Lord calls, he qualifies. "

I've been wearing my thermals, tuke and gloves. I'm going to pick up a scarf and some thicker socks today. Brr. It actually snowed yesterday. We've got a couple inches on the ground. "

I think it's time for an update. Kevin told me to share some pictures and stories.

He says there been a lot of ladies power walking. They don't slow down for him when he opens his mouth, so he power walks with them.

He hopefully has 2 upcoming baptisms.

He says he's cold and it's only October.

Well the pictues turned out really small. We'll have to get better copies, but for now this will have to do. You can kind of see them.
This is Kevin's first companion Elder Rupe. He is from Salt Lake.

Here he is at the first baptism of his misison. He didn't help teach this lady but he was excited to be able to be there for the baptism. It's a great way to start off the mission. They baptize people in the lake there.

Kevin's been out about 1 week. He already has 3 baptisms coming up! The tempature there is around 35 and gets to about 65. He placed his first Book of Mormon on the 16th. He said Houlton is about the size of Heber or Manti. He also said the members there feed him sooooo much. And there's a nice senior missionary couple that always makes sure there is food in their fridge. He also said that he doesn't feel like a missionary yet, but he's noticed that as he teaches and testifies and keeps himself really busy, he feels something growling inside of him. There's a missionary in there and he want's out. Roar!
The missionary email rule is he can read any email someone sends, but he can only reply to immidiate family. So anyone can write him.

We'll have more information next week.
